DAY 7
A "GRAND" DAY
We woke up at 7:40 feeling like P. Diddy.
It was a beautiful and sunny morning, perfect weather for a 4 hour drive to
the
At
the park we met up with the boys team who seemed to have the same itch of
anticipation as we felt the entire drive there. After a much appreciated
bathroom break, we started the hike towards the canyon. We didn’t realize
how much our eyes were in for a treat. The suspense was building as we
approached a gap in the trees and SHABLAM there it was, one of the
Although
we came from the harsh winter conditions, some people were not properly
equipped for the snow. Not to name names number 42 (Toni Knar) and her
brother number 24 (Robert) trekked through the snow in slippers and sandals.
Mother Knar came to the rescue with a quick fix of plastic bags to keep the
snow off of their cold, little toesies. As we were walking back to the vans
coach Harding was in the process of warning the group about the dangers of
the slippery walkways. All of a sudden we see Coach Harding on the ground
after slipping on the ice…ROCK ON COACH! After a good laugh he got back up
and continued on. Once again words could not describe the sight before our
eyes.
After a safe drive back home, a nutritious meal at Sonic and a dip in the
hot tub, it was another successful day in the lives of the Lady
Mustangs.

DAY 6
A DAY OF FUN

Finally, today we were able to sleep in. Coach
Harding picked us up a healthy breakfast that consisted of delicious donuts.
Today was more relaxed because
we didn’t have a set schedule. We
decided that we wanted to go to Cracker Jax, a mini golf and game place. We
had a lot of fun getting to know our new roommates as we golfed. We
learned who was good and who wasn’t. Good
thing we aren’t golfers (except Olivia). After
the many group pictures, we headed to the go-cart line. After
convincing the guy to let all 12 cars go at once, the race started.
While most of us went because of the fun of the ride, others were out
to get first place. As she tried
to pass everyone, Kate Wallen caused quite a few collisions. There
was no serious damage done. Before
we left, Coach asked Kate what the sign at the front of the race said to
make sure she could read. She
responded “No Bumping.”
We
all had a taste for Red Robin, yummm. We
are getting used to the scared response when we tell them we have 21 people.
Everything went smoothly except
that they forgot Megan Woit’s food. After eating we went back to the hotel
to swim in the beautiful

DAY 5
FINALE AND KNAR'S
There is no better wakeup call than a sleep chat with Rachael
Millner. We just wish we had a
video camera. But, another day

Hope you all have a happy New Year and (according to Toni Knar) make sure you have your New Year’s Revolution in mind!

DAY 4
MOUNTAINS AND DESERT MOUNTAIN
Day 4 was filled with mountains. We
spent the morning touring in the mountains. The views are absolutely
breathtaking. Below are some of the photos but they can not do justice
to the amazing landscape here. We found a road that was not blocked
that led us up quite high in the mountains (it was open because they were
doing some construction) and got some exhilarating views.
After our mountain excursion, we spent a couple of down hours at the hotel
before heading off to Sweet Tomatoes for a late lunch. Everyone took
full advantage of the buffet.
Last night, we traveled back to Desert Mountain High School to play the host
Wolves. They came out on fire. The Lady Mustangs seemed a step
behind all night and eventually fell to Desert Mountain 58-39. The
Lady Mustangs will be playing for 3rd Place in the tournament at noon
Thursday as they will be taking on Camelback.
After a stop off at In-N-Out Burger on the way back to the hotel, it was
time to get ready to turn in. After another long and exciting day and
yet another late night (we did not get back to the hotel until 10:35), it
was decided that the girls needed to get ready to get to sleep as we play
again in about 13 hours. As a result, you get my ramblings for the
day. Don't fret. The girls' writings will return tomorrow!!
Happy New Year everyone!!

DAY 3
MUSTANGS AND SEMIFINALS
The Lady Mustangs are
moving on to the Semi-Finals after a 64-39 win tonight. Their next
game will be tomorrow, December 30, at 7:30 PM at Desert Mountain High
School. Here is today's blog and photos.
This morning
everyone woke up to a lovely sunset according to Megan Woit. During
breakfast she tried to convince everyone that they could all see it even
though we were on the wrong side of the hotel. We also had to convince her
that the lovely sunset she claimed to have seen was a sunrise not a
sunset. After all the criticism we all had a lovely breakfast in each of
our hotel rooms. All we weren’t all together apparently we were all
watching the movie Ace Call to the Wild in each of our own rooms. At about
10:20 we all gathered in the lobby to head off to the boys game. They had
an awesome win!!! On the way back we found a

DAY 2
LET THE GAMES BEGIN
We awakened to the lovely voice of Mrs. Knar calling each room for a wake
up call. Breakfast was served from 6am- 9am and there was waffles, hard
boiled eggs, sausage, eggs, and pastries YUM YUM! After breakfast we had
down time in the rooms until 12:30. In the meantime, we watched World’s
Strickest Parents, played card games, and Apples to Apples. At 12:30 we
met in the lobby and headed out to the boys game. The Mustang boys had a
tremendous victory against
We met in the lobby at 6:30 and headed towards Horizon high school to play our first game against the host team. Before the game we met a lady who knew Coach Knar from an old school where they used to coach together. What a small world huh?! Then we were informed that a three point contest was going to be taking place before the game. We chose Brooke as a shooter who hit 6 awesome 3 pointers in one minute. Then we had 10 minutes of warm ups before tip off. Right before the game a Horizon player was awarded a black plaque for accomplishing 1,000 points in her basketball career. So let the game begin!! After the first quarter we had the lead 18-13, but we also had six fouls. In the second quarter they were in bonus almost the entire quarter. We still had the lead at half time but in the locker room, our goal was to stop fouling and putting them on the free throw line for easy points. At the end of game we fulfilled our goal! We only fouled three times and put them on the line twice. It was a great first game and we came out with a 65-52 victory. Tomorrow we are looking forward to seeing another boys game at 10 and playing our own game at 6! WHOA! Almost midnight where you guys are we gotta get to bed! Goodnight everyone!!!

DAY 1, WE HAVE ARRIVED
LADY MUSTANGS IN ARIZONA
Goodbye Mundelein, Hello
ARIZONA-
we claimed our luggage and then played UNO and charades while waiting for
the vans. During that time we realized that whatever happens at the
airport STAYS at the airport. The scenery of our drive to the hotel was
filled with mountains, cacti, and palm trees. We decided to go to
California Pizza “Chicken” for our first dinner in town. Dinner was a
success with many pictures, crayons, kids’ menus, and Mrs. Knar’s
singing. Some girls took advantage of the warmer weather and went for a
night swim. With all that said and done, we are ready to sleep and prepare
for tomorrows game and adventures.
